Musician Yes. Living No.

I’m hoping that if a little bit more time on my hands, I’ll start to write more music and playing more music. I’m in a better place where I understand what my music and writing mean to me. It’s a good thing, and my mind can be at peace.

I am not trying to take it anywhere or trying to pursue anything with it. I just really, really want to think about my music and what it means to me.

No more over analyzing or overthinking what phrases mean. Or thinking about what other people think about it.

Touring has made me realize that I was not meant to live my life as a musician. And I’m totally ok with that. Truly OK with that.

Touring has made me realize more of my strengths and weaknesses. Made me realize what I want more out of life. But I’m starting to see more and more what my purpose is in this world.

“Space Cowboy”

After a month of touring, I have a month off. But as awesome as it is to have time off, I need as much work as I possibly can get. Because I’m trying to work as much as I can.

#workworkwork

With that being said, I think there’s going to be a lot happening this year. There are a lot more tours going out, which means bigger line-up for festivals and arena shows. More artists are dropping albums this year which means more music to spread the love this year!

My prediction is this year, a lot of people in Nashville will be dropping a new album. Kacey Musgraves will be coming out with her new album in March and I am excited about it!

I’ve been a fan of her music since she started her career. She tells an old, country story with a modern-day message. She’s old meets new but there’s something profound about her music. It’s not the most upbeat but it is beautiful and catchy in its own way. I applaud her for sticking to her sound. She’s unique in the country world. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I genuinely love her music.

Grammys 2016

I’m sure most of you watched the Grammys. And to say the least, I don’t think it was the most exciting event, but I have to admit. But I’am  really happy with the majority of the rockstars who actually won awards.

I don’t remember the whole list, but I’m extremely excited that Chris Stapleton and Kendrick Lamar won big! Good for those guys, they deserve it!

But just in case you live under a rock, here are the best and worst moments from 2016 Grammys in the link below.

I’m extremely happy about the nominees for the women’s country category. Especially Kacey Musgraves and Ashley Monroe.

I wrote a blog about Kacey a while back, but I absolutely love her music. She’s down to earth Texas country. She writes these stories that are relatable. It’s simple and beautiful.

Ashley is a quote a quote “newer artist”. She’s really not, she’s been around, but she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. Her song “If love was Fair” is amazing. And as I’m writing, I’m listening to it on repeat. Check her out!
