I feel like lately, I’ve been really busy and working on several projects. But I don’t do well with days off. I try to keep as proactive as I possibly can be. With trying to help buy properties, trying to buy a house, trying to work as much as I can while putting on as many events as I can and also working on a volunteer project for the stray dogs in Nashville. Did I mention my main goal in life is to better myself as a person every day?
Pretty much, a lot of loud noises.
I did go see the Japandroids the other day at Mercy Lounge, not working the show just actually going to it. Last time I saw them was in Milwaukee in 2012/2013 I think. They still got it. The duo is still loud and rocking it out. It was a great show with two guys just jamming out.
I was planning on going to the Foo Fighters but that show was canceled due to a family emergency. But I was told to check out Starcrawler. I didn’t know this, but the Foo Fighters have been bringing them out on shows as their opener. I haven’t seen them live, but I’ve heard good things! If you like modern punk music Starcrawler is something you must check out.
And believe me, I will check them out when I get the chance!
I think in this day in age, forever ago and most importantly the future, it is so imperative that women band together.
No, this is not a political rant. This is about women and music. Literally, band together. I’m so happy that so many women are embracing each other and starting to support each other. Whether it’s celebrities vocally speaking about it or girls just playing together.
Think about how many all girl bands there are back when and now. If you really think about it, not many. Charli XCX had a all girl band at SXSW in 2014 and I think she still does to this day. There’s also The Dead Deads, but I think it’s important that people realize there should be way more all girl bands. But off the top of my head, not many. But as time goes on, I think there will be way more.
My friend at the City Winery told me about Tacocat. She said, “They have the best period music.” And I absolutely love it! A punk rock all girl band that talks about lady parts and bad moods. What more could I ask for at a time like this!
It’s not every day that I make an effort to actally go out of my way to go and see a band. Two main reasons:
1. I’m a spoiled brat and I can go to concerts for free or I either work them.
2. I know the band will come back around and I can see them another time (see reason number 1.)
This is a side note here * I know this sounds like a really bratty thing to say. I’ll be the first to admit it. Please don’t judge me. I promise I’m a semi decent person.*
But I will say this, if you don’t go and see Motion City Soundtrack Farewell Tour, you are truly missing out. I’ve worked with them a couple times, the guys are so nice and extremely talented. Please do me a favor, if you read this please do see Motion City if they come to a city near you. It’s once a once in a lifetime punk rock band for sure.
